New Name, Old Business: Our Journey
This business began as the working partnership grew stronger between an old-time roofer and a young man. The old-timer had work lined up but didn't necessarily like taking care of the business end of things. As time progressed, the old-timer decided that the young roofer will have to take on the business. The young roofer had the business fall into his hands. He then became the owner of this roofing business. That was over a decade ago and the old-timer has come and gone. The young man is not such a young man anymore but still enjoys the work he does and the people he works with. The business owner has traditionally used the word-of-mouth marketing strategy but has since decided to expand and rebrand the business. Today we are "The Whitehorse Roofing Company". Meet Our Team
John
John Anderson started roofing in 1987. He began in Kamloops, got his journeyman certification in 1994 and somehow ended up in the Yukon. John met David over ten years ago and has worked together on different jobs over the years. John is a roofer but is not limited to roofing. If it has something to do with building houses he's probably done it. With 33 years in the trade and 26 years as a journeyman, John adds valuable experience and skills to the team.
Noah
Noah Sorenson did her first roof in 2013. She has been roofing with the company full-time since 2016. Noah is a born and raised Yukoner from Haines Junction. Noah grew up in the logging industry and finds roofing easy in comparison. Noah puts the guys to shame with her work ethic. She understands the risks associated with this type of work and has taken on the important role of ensuring a safe working environment.
David
David Gatensby is the business owner and operations manager. He has been roofing in the territory for 15 years. He is native to the Yukon, born in Whitehorse and raised in Carcross. He learned the trade from an old school roofer, hand nailing shingles for years. He eventually got modern and picked up an air nailer. David grew this business from his working partnership with his old-time partner. David enjoys the physical work, the working environment, working with the crew and the satisfaction of knowing his efforts are keeping people dry.
Jeff
Jeff has been a dedicated and committed member of the team for over four years now. He’s a hard worker that enjoys roofing. Jeff is always ready with a smile and appreciates the teamwork that goes into getting a job done.
